FIXED PULLEY:
A pulley that is attached to a structer is a fixed pulley. The wheel on the pulley turns, but the pulley itself does not move. A fixed pulley does not multiply the force of the effort.
MOVABLE PULLEY:
A movable pulley is attached to an object that is moving. One end of the rope is attached to a stable structer, while the other supporting rope is free to move. The end of the rope that is moving goes down through the pulley attached to the rope and back up through the top.
